Entry Level Civil Engineer (Structural, Transportation, Water/Wastewater)

Job Summary

Willett, Hoffman & Associates, Inc., is seeking an undergraduate student for professional work requiring a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. This successful candidate will perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities, requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Competitive wage and benefit package offered.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
  • Assists in the development of probable construction cost estimates for his/her projects within the department.
  • Assists in the analysis of reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.
  • Prepares design computations and quantity estimates.
  • Assists in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, permits and designs for project.
  • Instructs draftspersons / technicians to reduce designs to working drawings.
  • Reviews construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
  • Serves as onsite project representative.

 Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Either have obtained or will be obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Transportation, Structural, or Environmental (Water/Wastewater)
  • Professional written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Team player with unselfish problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
