Organizational Strategist

Yes, M.I.S.S. Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing college and career readiness programming to students across Bergen, Passaic, and Essex counties. We are on a mission to scale our impact to serve 1,000 students, and we need a strategic, entrepreneurial individual to help us achieve this ambitious goal.

Position Overview:

As the Organizational Strategist, you will work closely with the founder and executive director, Shanita Perdomo, gaining an inside look at the leadership and operational aspects of running a nonprofit. This is a hands-on role where you will contribute to key areas of the organization’s growth, from finance and grant writing to donor relations and strategic planning. This role is ideal for someone with a startup mindset, comfortable with rolling up their sleeves, and eager to help create something from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership Insight:
    • Attend leadership meetings, fundraising consultations, and other high-level discussions, gaining insight into nonprofit strategy and decision-making.
  • Business Development Support:
    • Assist with the growth of Yes, M.I.S.S. Inc. by working on strategic initiatives aimed at scaling programs to serve more students.
    • Engage in donor stewardship, helping build relationships with key supporters and partners.
  • Finance and Grant Sourcing:
    • Work with the founder on finance-related tasks, including budget planning and tracking.
    • Assist with sourcing and writing grants to secure funding for Yes, M.I.S.S. Inc.’s programs.
  • Presentation and Deck Creation:
    • Develop PowerPoint decks for fundraising pitches, presentations, and strategic meetings.
  • Operational Strategy:
    • Participate in strategic planning, identifying opportunities for organizational growth, efficiency improvements, and impact scaling.
