Charles and Muriel Kornheiser Clinical Scholars Program
St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center ® (SFH), Roslyn, New York is pleased to announce the Charles and Muriel Kornheiser Clinical Scholars Program as part of a generous donation by the Leonard and Sophie Davis Fund.
The scholarship program aims to provide two college graduates, with preference for underrepresented minority (URM) candidates, with aspirations for a medical career, a one-year paid internship for a comprehensive research experience.
Scholars selected for the program are paired with physician and research scientist mentors at St. Francis Hospital. This full time, paid position will focus on research activities and clinical observations in cardiovascular medicine at SFH. Scholars will work with research team to contribute to scientific publications as a result of research activities and will attend a national scientific meeting. Opportunities exist for the scholars to build networks of formal and informal contacts in the medical community that will provide support as they seek future career goals.
Eligibility:
- Plans to pursue an advanced degree in clinical medical practice (MD/DO) or clinical research (PhD)
- Able to commit to the Clinical Scholars program for one year (07/07/2025-06/26/2026)
- Recent graduates (within the last 5 years) who received a baccalaureate degree or a current senior planning to graduate by May 2025, but have not started a Master's or Doctoral degree program
- Preferred GPA >3.50/4.00
