Portfolio Management Assistant - Fixed Income (two positions)
What You'll Do
We’re looking for two Portfolio Management Assistants to join Principal Global Fixed Income. In these roles, you’ll provide financial and operational support to portfolio management, research and trading teams to aid in the management of either the General Account or the Agency Mortgage Backed Securities teams!
- Monitor daily market developments and portfolio compliance, conduct research and analysis, run and analyze statistical reports, and complete special projects.
- Analyze portfolio performance, analytics, and attribution by applying tools such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, quantitative techniques, and knowledge of investments and financial markets.
- Partner with portfolio management to establish and implement investment strategy across client portfolios using Portfolio Management Tool (PMT) to develop specific portfolio buy/sell trades to affect the exposure rebalancing.
- Respond to basic inquires and requests for information (i.e. performance and analytic reports) about investment strategies from marketing, RFP, product management, distribution, consultants and clients.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers, the research team, the client service team, compliance and senior management to create performance and attribution and other analytical reports to present to both internal and external clients.

Who You Are
- Bachelor's degree in business or technical field (ie finance, accounting, economics, statistics, engineering, data science, business analytics)
- Previous internship/experience in fixed income
- Advanced use of Excel
Skills That Will Help You Stand Out
- Experience with Bloomberg, BlackRock Aladdin, MSCI
- Progress towards CFA and/or MBA
- Knowledge of financial markets and fixed income strategies, including general knowledge of bond mechanics and pricing calculations
- Coding knowledge such as Python, SQL, and R
- Ability to understand basic accounting principles and economic theory, interpret financial statements, and efficiently and effectively research, compile and analyze information
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent abilities in the areas of risk awareness, analytics, and financial modeling
Salary Range Information
Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly) $71250 - $95960 / year
Time Off Program
Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and provides the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Employees don’t accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

This role will be based out of our World Headquarters located in Des Moines, IA.
Work Environments
This role offers the ability for in-office or four days in-office and one day remote. You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
